Zoom meetings created by ClassFit ignore your passcode or other settings: lock the setting at Zoom account level.

ClassFit creates Zoom meetings based on your Zoom account and meeting settings. Some organizers have mentioned that the Zoom meetings generated by ClassFit don’t always align with their preferred settings.

Zoom has multiple tiers of settings, and it’s possible that your account settings are overriding your meeting settings. For example, you may have a passcode requirement enabled at the account level, but this setting might not be locked, allowing meetings created by ClassFit or other third parties to bypass this requirement.

What the lock icons in Zoom mean

The padlock icons are part of Zoom, not ClassFit. They sit next to settings in your Zoom web portal and control whether that setting can be changed lower down.

A closed padlock means the setting is locked. It is fixed at account or group level, the toggle is greyed out, and nobody below that level can change it. Zoom usually labels this Locked by admin.

An open padlock means the setting is not locked. Users, and apps that create meetings for you such as ClassFit, can still create meetings that do not follow it.

Locking is what makes a setting apply to every meeting, including the ones ClassFit creates for you. So if you need something like a passcode or a waiting room on every class, turn it on and then click the padlock to lock it.

Only the Zoom account owner or an admin can lock or unlock a setting, and it has to be done under Account Management > Account Settings, not in your own Profile Settings. If you are a normal user on someone else’s Zoom account, you will need to ask them to do it.

Lock Meeting inside a live Zoom call is a different thing. It stops anyone new joining a meeting that has already started, and it has no effect on your ClassFit classes.

Resolving Zoom Settings Issues

To ensure that meetings scheduled via ClassFit adhere to your Zoom settings, follow these steps:

Lock Your Passcode Requirements
If you require a passcode for all meetings, make sure to lock this setting in your Zoom account. This ensures that every meeting, including those scheduled by ClassFit, automatically requires a passcode.

Go to your Account Settings page in Zoom.

Find the passcode setting and click the Lock icon to secure it.

Check All Relevant Settings
Zoom settings can be found in multiple areas such as your Profile Settings and Account Settings. It’s important to review and lock any settings that are critical to how your meetings are conducted.

Additional Resources

For further guidance on Zoom settings, refer to Zoom’s support articles or contact their support directly from your Zoom account:

Using Tiered Settings

Changing Account Settings

Changing Your Meeting Recording and Telephone Settings
