There are three common reasons why a recurring membership might stop or not recur. We’ve outlined these below:

1. The Client Has Cancelled Their Membership

The client may have manually canceled their recurring membership through their account settings.

2. The Business Has Cancelled or Paused the Membership

The business might have paused or canceled the membership for reasons such as a temporary closure, client request, or administrative action.

3. We Were Unable to Take Payment for the Membership Renewal

If the payment for renewal fails, it could be due to insufficient funds, an expired card, or the card issuer withholding funds pending client confirmation of the transaction.

What Happens if Payment Fails?

If we cannot process the payment for a renewal, we will notify both the business and the client via email to make them aware of the issue. The membership will remain active for an additional 24 hours to give the client time to resolve the payment issue.

Second Attempt: After 24 hours, we will attempt to process the payment again. If the payment fails a second time, the membership will be canceled.

Client Action: Once the payment issue is resolved, the client can purchase a new membership.

Our online payment partner is Stripe. Occasionally, clients may reach the payment verification stage, only to see that the system has changed the amount to zero. Here’s what this means and how to resolve it.

Understanding the Issue

If your client encounters a screen that shows a payment amount of £0.00 during the verification process, this is a standard action by Stripe. Here’s why this happens:

Card Validation: Stripe is attempting to validate the card, not charge it. This is why the amount shows as £0.00.

Temporary Authorization: Clients may see a $1 pending charge on their bank statement during this process. This is a temporary authorization charge that will disappear from their statement.

Authorization Request: When storing customer details, Stripe might send a request to the bank for either a $0 or $1 authorization to confirm that the card is valid and can be used.

What to Do Next

Client Instructions: Ask your client to continue and validate the transaction as instructed on the screen. Once completed, the payment should process correctly.

Reassure your client: Let them know that any temporary charge they see will be removed from their bank statement.

If you or your client have additional questions about this process, please email us at hello@classfit.com.

Stripe payout timing by country, first payout delay for new accounts, and instant payouts.

All electronic payments are processed through our payment partner, Stripe. Below is an overview of Stripe’s payment processing times.

For New Businesses

For new businesses, Stripe states:

“When you start processing live payments from your customers with Stripe, you won’t receive your first payout until 7–14 days after receiving your first successful payment. The first payout usually takes a little longer to establish the Stripe account.”

Standard Payout Timing

The standard payment times depend on the country your business is based in. Here’s the standard payout timing by country:

2 Business Days – Applies to: Australia, United States (except businesses in higher-risk industries)

Payouts of your available account balance are made daily and contain payments processed two business days prior. For example, payments received on a Tuesday are paid out by Thursday, and payments received on a Friday are paid out by Tuesday.

4 Business Days – Applies to: New Zealand

Payouts are made daily and contain payments processed four business days prior. For example, payments received on a Monday are paid out by Friday.

7 Calendar Days – Applies to: All Other Countries (except Japan and businesses in higher-risk industries)

Payouts are made daily and contain payments processed seven calendar days prior. For example, payments received on a Tuesday are paid out by the following Tuesday.

14 Calendar Days – Applies to: High-risk businesses

Payouts are made daily and contain payments processed fourteen calendar days prior. For example, payments received on June 1st would be paid out on June 15th.

Alternative Payout Schedules

If you prefer payouts on a fixed schedule, you can choose to receive them weekly or monthly in your account’s payout settings:

Weekly Payouts: You can specify the day of the week that payments should arrive in your bank account.

Monthly Payouts: You can specify the day of the month. Payouts scheduled between the 29th and 31st are sent on the last day of shorter months.

Note: Choosing a weekly or monthly schedule doesn’t change how long it takes for your pending balance to become available. For example, if your account was set to a two business day daily payout schedule, it still takes two business days for your pending balance to be available.

Instant Payouts

With Instant Payouts, you can instantly send funds to a supported debit card. Instant Payouts are available 24/7, including weekends and holidays, with funds typically appearing in the associated bank account within 30 minutes.

Note: New Stripe users may not be immediately eligible for Instant Payouts. You can check your eligibility here.

For more information on Stripe’s payment policies, please click here.

When class organizers create a class, they choose between two payment options: paid online or paid on-site.

Paid on-site: If your class is marked as paid on-site, you will need to arrange payment with your organizer outside of ClassFit.

How to Check the Payment Option

You can tell if a class is paid online or on-site by checking the class details page as shown below. Note that for ‘packages only’ payment, it is considered online.

Booking Via an Integrated Calendar

If you are booking via an integrated calendar, the payment details will be shown during checkout:

When your clients pay for your services through ClassFit, your funds are held securely in your Stripe account. You have the option to withdraw this money manually or set up automatic withdrawals that fit your schedule. This guide will show you how to configure your payout timings.

Note: This tutorial primarily focuses on users with the integrated ClassFit x Stripe dashboard. If you’re located in countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Mexico, Brazil, Australia, India, Latvia, or Norway where this setup isn’t available, alternative instructions are provided below.

Changing Payout Timings Through Your ClassFit x Stripe Dashboard (NEW)

Go to Payments on the left side menu.

In your Stripe dashboard, click on the pen icon beside Payout Schedule.
